National Professional Social Work Month is in March and this year’s theme is ELEVATE SOCIAL WORK.... an opportunity to educate the public about the invaluable contributions of the profession and shed light on the salary disparity.
For generations, social workers have worked tirelessly to improve our wider society and make our nation a better place to live. They elevate and empower people.
Social workers go through years of education to learn and hone their professional skills so they can help others reach their full potential. Many social workers also pay an astronomical amount to take required continuing education courses each year to make sure their skills remain cutting edge.
Although 90 percent of social workers are satisfied with the life-affirming, invaluable work they do, social work salaries tend to lag behind those of others helping professions.
The services of social workers are needed now more than ever before as the nation grapples with serious, pressing issues.
What if the nation did not have social workers? What would life be like?
During Social Work Month, we urge you to learn more about the contributions social works have made in our society, why the profession is so vital to our nation, and how you can help members of this great vocation continue to make this nation better and get the compensation they need to do the amazing work they do.
