😷This is a special dedication for all my @Funny_Nurse_RN Labor & Delivery, Peds, NICU & OBGYN Nurses!!
😷Here we have a newborn still in its amniotic sac during a C-Section.
What’s amazing is the amniotic sac is a membrane that surrounds the baby as it grows in utero and its filled with fluids that cushion the baby amongst other functions.
😷A caesarean section is often performed when a vaginal delivery would put the baby or mother at risk. This could include obstructed twin pregnancy, high blood pressure in the mother, also problems with the placenta, umbilical cord or shape of the pelvis which would lead to this previous C-section seen here.
😷Some C-sections are also performed upon request, but they are usually done based on medical need and in many cases they are lifesaving for the mother and baby.
😷During a normal birth, this membrane ruptures and all that fluid rushes out - that's what's actually happening when your "water breaks," But in very rare cases, the baby is born with the amniotic sac still intact. It's called an "en caul" birth, and experts say it happens in only about one in every 80,000 births.
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.”
