Tough times are ahead for the #SA #vaping
industry. Some heavy handed restrictions on retailing vaping products will come into effect later this year, but at what cost?
The industry is worth millions.
How many businesses will pack up and go interstate?
How many businesses will close?
How many people will lose their livelihoods as a result?
How many people will no longer have access to vaping hardware and e-liquid when online sales are prohibited?
How many people will return to smoking cigarettes?
What burden will this place on the health sector (which is already a shambles in this state)? A note to all sitting members of the SA Parliament: you are all to blame. Every person that reverts back to smoking - that’s on you. Every business that closes and lays off staff – that’s on you. You allowed this bill to pass and you didn’t even bat an eyelid. Shameful.
The government continues to demonise nicotine. The government continues to lump vaping in with #tobacco.
The government continues to refuse to recognise vaping for what it is for most people: the most effective way to quit smoking cigarettes.
The only positive to come out of this is the prohibition of sales to minors.
Make no mistake – other state governments will be watching this regulation model closely. If you live outside of SA and don’t think this is your problem you are mistaken. This sets a sad precedent.
As @breezetones says 2019-YEAR OF THE UPRISING. The next SA state election is set for 🗳March 2022🗳 We must keep fighting. We must make our lawmakers accountable. We must keep advocating. Link to full fact sheet in bio .
