Wow, I was not expecting the runner’s high today but I can not tell you how much I ENJOYED today’s 16 mile run!
I even enjoyed a nice little chat with a passer by and his dog talking about how his daughter runs marathons as well. Everything about today just clicked, the weather is amazing and I didn’t even feel too tired at the end of it.

But that could be because I consciously went slower than normal again and actually enjoyed the 4 x 0.5 mile walks in-between as they really helped me to split the run up.

I made sure to stop and take more pictures. Although they aren’t very clear. It was either the ☀️ fault or I have a dodgy camera?! Either way, I spotted some more colour! 💪

Actually looking forward to tomorrow’s 10 miler already and not dreading it for once!

Day 16: I’m over half way through and it’s actually getting easier! However, it was ruined when my little bro decided to message me with this photo and “the competition is on”. We cannot let him beat my total so spread the word about Lucy’s Sugar Free Feb and get donating!! All competition aside, all money raised goes towards an amazing cause and not only does it support those with cancer but all those supporting them too. For all those that don’t know Hugo (my bro) he has always wanted to be a pilot and through his love for piloting he started a youtube channel recording all his flights to different places through a flight simulator (I think that’s the right word I’m not as technologically advanced as Hugo). He has come so far and now has 6,000 subscribers which for a 16 year old isn’t too shabby. He has decided to film a 24 hour live stream of a flight he will be doing and will be awake for all 24 hours of course which I was very surprised at as I can’t even stay up past 10pm. So today is my “#cancerversary”: One year since the #motherofallsurgeries and #hipec to remove a big-ass tumour, several internal organs plus a hefty dose of chemo directly into my belly. Mixed emotions to be honest and, let’s face it, still very early days. Extremely thankful and fortunate to be doing ok right now though - latest scans look encouraging (🤞🤞 things will remain so), and training for the #Bathhalf marathon is going well. Just 4 weeks to go - eek! .

With no Saturday morning clubs I was able to take a more leisurely approach to #parkrun this week. I caught up with a couple of my Wolfpack buddies. Guy who took up running at 50 and is an absolute natural runner and Ryan who a few years ago had a kidney transplant and since then has taken life by the balls, recently selected by Great Britain in the world transplant games and finishing first today! Both of these guys are inspirational.

For me it was an easy comfortable run with tomorrow’s half in mind and not over doing the freshly repaired chassis.

Terry Fox diagnosed with bone cancer had his leg amputated above the knee. While in hospital, Terry was so overcome by the suffering of other cancer patients that he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research.

Terry ran 3,339 miles (5,373 km) across Canada in 143 days in 1980, which was equivalent to running a full marathon. The disease took hold in the end and forced him to stop and he sadly passed away 9 months later.

“I saw advert online around the same time as my grandfather had been diagnosed cancer, which hit me emotionally. I had also had my best friend diagnosed with cancer a while earlier. ⁣

it was a time in my life where becoming fit had become a must rather than a need. Also due to personal reasons I found myself in a bad place mentally.⁣

I had the normal nerves. “I have no experience” but with the passion and enthusiasm in the room and meeting everyone, I was excited for what we were about to accomplish. ⁣

The training was a real challenge, you get out as much as you put in. These guys really put you through the paces. ⁣

The night was spectacular, the atmosphere was electric. Like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. There was a real sense of pride and unity. ⁣

Day 15: Dinner

Almost forgot. So yesterday I had my belated Valentine's day meal. Beetroot gnocchi with bacon and garlic topped with grated grana padano. It was really tasty.

I made the gnocchi myself. At one point I was kicking myself and wondering why I put myself through this misery. I'd blended up the beetroot and egg then folded it into the flour and potato mix. The result was this sticky red pink dough that just. Kept. Clinging. I honestly was expecting the things to fall apart when I started boiling them 😂. But miracles happen. They held together and I was even able to saute them with the bacon. Would have liked them a bit redder, but the pink was pretty.

Day 35 ish. difficult and late start... but after a long chat with an over sized teddy bear (Ecuadorian cousin to Paddington). i was reminded that the record was only one part of the attempt. more importantly was to raise money and awareness for @cr_uk. without the reseach, survival rates will never improve. i was also reminded that talking in public to a large stuffed toy could be deemed a sign of maddness, so get back on the ¥₩£€ing bike, pedal to Cartagena and finish it off.

Yesterday, while other people were receiving flowers and chocolates (or complaining about those that did), I got the best gift of all.

I got the news I've been hoping to get for months; I am in complete remission!

After 12 months of chemo, surgery, radiotherapy and Herceptin I am essentially cured (although the doctors won't say cured until it's been 5 years without a reoccurance). I finally feel like I can see a future where I can go days, weeks or even months without thinking about cancer. I can breath a huge sigh of relief and start living my life again.

I know it will take a while to recover; and while I'm still weak and rebuilding my body it will be at the forefront of my mind. But it will be in the form of something that was, not something that is.

I don't have cancer anymore! It's gone, we won!

Me, my boyfriend, my family, my friends, my colleagues, my doctors, my nurses, cancer researchers, and fellow suffers; we have all been in this fight together. Together we won the toughest fight of my life, getting me to this point today, and for that I'll always be eternally greatful.

I’ve set myself a challenge that if you know me could be quite a tough challenge to complete.
As you know I have multiple health and mobility problems, but I really wanted to help raise money for @cr_uk this year. Cancer is still one of the biggest killers and I’ve seen too many young lives disappear from my social media feeds. It breaks my heart.
I’m determined that my health problems won’t stop me completing this, but I’ve gotta be realistic and I’m gonna need support from all you guys...need you along with me cheering me on, not letting me falter. Day 15 of #FitnessFebruary
I was meant to have a hair appointment after school today but unfortunately it was cancelled. Instead, this gave me time to sort the classroom and put up some displays.
Although I got home late being productive put me in a good mood.
So for my exercise tonight I’ve done 20mins of hoola hooping and a workout from an app. (Which I did twice 🤣) Today is measuring day and I’m so pleased with what I’ve achieved so far. I’ve lost fat, look better but also feel a lot better. I feel fitter and more confident when working out.
