The last time, I did heavy-ish free squats was last year in September🙈 before I switched to a new bodybuilding program with a different focus...
I hit 120kg/265lbs today for a single despite eating basically zero carbs atm☠️ I don’t think it was deep enough, but for my first squats in 2019, I am OK with parallel (89.95°) 🧐😂

Well really making up for not getting much for meals in today 😂😂, been busy with work, running some errands and hitting the gym and tbh after I had that salad I was pretty content for the longest time so I just kind of chilled and watch some college hoops 👌🏽 then once I did start to get hungry I made this delish plate of lean beef franks topped with turkey chili mixed with sliced peppers and onions and mozzarella cheese and some curly fries also topped with said items!
Chili cheese dogs always hitting the spot on snowy days so you can imagine how ready I was to get this bad boy down after I had finished prepping it 🙂 ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

Are Carbs the Devil? “Not all carbs are made equal’. At the end of the day a carb is a carb, however, certain carbs do have better properties in than others. Wholegrains are higher in fibre and goodness than ‘white’ carbs (wholegrain pasta vs white pasta). Opting for complex carbs such at sweet potato, quinoa, whole grains offer a slower release of energy rather than a quick spike like white rice or fruit.
Carbs often come with a larger amount of fibre, things like whole grains and dates are packed with fibre to help move things along… you may often find those on low carb diets are often blocked up!
Carbs are your bodies most desired energy source, whether it’s from fruit and gives us a quick spike of energy or oats and giving us a slow release they are a must for energy.
It is said that carbs contain ”contain tryptophan, which helps produce the feel-good hormone serotonin in your brain.” I’m yet to meet someone that doesn’t love the taste of carbs, whether thats whole grains or sugar, they are bloody yummy. The thing with carbs is they are still seen as the enemy so when people chuck them out of their diet for good they deprive themselves which tends to lead to a binge sooner rather than later (speaking on experience). If something tastes good and can be good for us why deprive ourself? 
Don’t chuck out any vital macronutrient, there is always time for carbs. •“I wanna diet, do I have to do keto?”⁣
•“Ima start the keto diet, I hear it really works”⁣
•“You don't eat carbs huh”⁣
•“ I did the keto diet for a month and it worked but now i'm back to where I was before” ⁣
•“I love carbs but, I really wanna commit to keto because I really want to see results”⁣

I have NOTHING against keto, if you aren't a fan of carbs than I think keto would be great for you, If you're already doing it and you love it, it fits your lifestyle, awesome. 👍🏼⁣

BUT if you just want to do it or are already doing because you want results. Let me tell yaaaaa you got it all wrong😫 You can lose weight with any diet you do!! It all comes down to calories! ⁣

Red Velvet overnight oats was the move this morning! Using red velvet cake mix and quick oats with vanilla whey mixed in and 2oz of 1% milk, I cooked the oats first then mixed in the protein powder and milk, cooked again for 20 seconds then mixed in the red velvet cake mix! This bowl came out thic and actually pretty moist almost like an actual cake moreso than oats 😂😂 then took some red velvet chips ahoys and snuck em in there and topped it with the remaining whey, a serving is 31g I used 25 in the oats and 5 for the drizzle!) It’s raining here and supposed to be turning to snow in the next 30 minutes soooo that’ll be lovey running errands in 😂😂 ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

When the wonderful @_amyflood_ took me to @shortstopmelbourne and offered to buy me a doughnut I was of course instantly drawn to PB&J cos what else 🤷🏽‍♀️ we discussed it and seeing the raspberry top both assumed the middle would just be PB but helll no they went and filled (and filled they did) that baby with pb and jam a plenty and man I died and went to doughnut heaven 😍 I seem to remember KK doing a version of this which falls significantly short of this effort 🙊🍩 who else loves PB&J?

NEW ICE CREAM REVIEW! Or gelato.. err.. Talenti's "Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough"

Described as having a Vanilla Base, Fudge Swirls and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough pieces.

Texture: After letting it sit out for 10 minutes.

Base is smooth. Melts slightly faster than your regular ice cream, which is normal for a "Gelato".
Fudge Swirls are silky and sticky! On the thin side, which is becoming the norm for Talenti and they just tent to pack it to side of the container. Da fudge, man?
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough pieces were nice, soft, slight chew and a bit of a crunch from the Chocolate chips.

Flavor: Base is basic.. it's not vanilla bean, unfortunately.
Fudge Swirls do have a nice flavor but with the amount you get, which is barely anything, you're left disappointed.
And the Main Event? The Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough pieces.. Well.. they had an OKAY flavor. Not the best I've tried, that's for sure. Some disintegrated into the base... You could see that they left a mark with the Chocolate chips remaining haha. That sucked.
However, for Talenti's Quality Control.. I got maybe 8 pieces or so.. which sucks, of course.

Rating: B-

You can't spot reduce fat. You can only lose fat overall. Sure, you can target individual muscles and build them to be a little bit bigger. But you cannot spot reduce fat. PERIOD.

Well took the easy route tonight 😂😂 went to Chick Fil-A and picked myself up a grilled chicken sandwich(but they forgot my chick fil a sauce 😕 so I topped it with a little mustard, Heinz bbq sauce and Taco Bell hot sauce 😂😂) then had some reduced fat Mac and cheese mixed with fat free mozzarella cheese for a nice easy dinner tonight! ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

▪️I’m not as far along as ______. ➡️ I’ve come so far from where I was back then!⁣

▪️I’m not good enough because ______. ➡️ I am worthy because ______.⁣

▪️I’m not where I want to be. ➡️ I am actively working towards where I want to be, and I choose to enjoy the journey.⁣

▪️I don’t have time to work out. ➡️ Working out makes me more productive & efficient, and helps me to show up as my best self. Even 5 minutes is better than nothing!⁣

▪️I screwed up today anyways, I may as well write it off and start over tomorrow/next week. ➡️ This one meal wasn’t perfect, but that’s OK! I’ll just course-correct as best as I can and learn from this in the future.⁣

▪️Losing weight is hard. ➡️ Losing weight can be hard sometimes – but I am fully capable of doing hard things, and I am choosing this for myself.⁣

I cannot tell you the last time I ate pasta!?!? 🤯 It’s not that I CAN’T have it/ make it fit my macros/ incorporate it as part of a balanced diet; however, this is 4 servings! Realistically I can’t justify nor fit 4 SERVINGS OF PASTA into a meal or my day... it’s just not something that I find “worth it” when I’m looking at my total calorie bank to work with for the day. And I’d so much rather have SO MANY OTHER THINGS than a sad single serving of pasta 😞

Those that have been following me for awhile know that my PREFERENCE is to follow a high protein/high-er healthy fats/low-er carb diet... it’s just my personal preference and what keeps me satisfied and slowly going in the right direction towards my goals.

That being said, I’ve definitely had to evolve slightly with my marathon training ramping quite a bit in intensity and am finding I do need some more specifically timed carbs to fuel the long runs which take me 2-3 hours.

Never be afraid to try something new, to change, to evolve... I’m a firm believer that there is NO ONE BEST DIET OR WAY OF EATING... every “method/approach” has its own pros and cons... the best “diet” is one that prioritizes your health, your quality of life, your preferences and what is sustainable and best for YOU ❤️

PUMPKIN SPICE CHOCOLATE CHIP BANANA BREAD 🍌🎃🍫

This recipe is gluten free and doesn’t have any added sugar!

Ingredients:
-2 mashed bananas
-1/2 cup pumpkin
-1/2 cup @califiafarms no sugar added pumpkin spice creamer
-3 TBS @lakantosweetener Maple syrup
-2 eggs
-1 1/2 cups oat flour
-1/2 tsp baking powder
-1 TBS pumpkin spice seasoning
-1/2 cup @lilys_sweets_chocolate stevia chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix your wet and dry ingredients separately, then add together. Bake for about 40 minutes then you have yourself some fall flavored deliciousness!

When it comes to building muscle and losing fat, most people “in the know” agree on at least a few things: -A high-protein diet is best.
-An energy surplus is necessary for maximizing muscle growth.
-An energy deficit is necessary for losing fat.

In fact, those fundamentals are so well established both scientifically and anecdotally that they form a litmus test of sorts for diet “gurus” and methodologies.

If someone claims otherwise–that a low-protein diet is optimal or that you don’t have to worry about calories if you “eat clean,” for example–you should ignore everything they say.

That may sound harsh but, as you probably know by now, one of the biggest barriers to getting fit is just figuring out who to listen to.

Just because someone sounds smart doesn’t mean they know what he’s talking about. A degree doesn’t mean she can get results. A great body doesn’t mean he also has a reliable, universally workable system for getting there.

Determining who is and isn’t full of shit can be tricky, but know this:

One of the easiest ways to quickly assess the reliability of a self-style fitness expert is their grasp of the the non-negotiable fundamentals of dieting.

So, all that brings me back to the topic of this episode, carbohydrate intake.

Ask Google how many carbs you should eat, weed out the idiots, and you’re left with a lot of contradictory answers.

Many well-respected health and fitness authorities argue why low-carb dieting is the way of the future. Many others rail against it as just another fad. Many still are in the middle saying “it depends…” Well, in this video, I’m going to explain the science and logic behind my position, which is this:

If you’re healthy and physically active, and especially if you lift weights regularly, you’re probably going to do best with more carbohydrate, not less.

And yes, that applies to both building muscle and losing fat. The reality is a relatively high carbohydrate intake can help you do both, and this video will explain why.

The baked oats have a completely different texture than normal microwaved oatmeal. They are more cakey and thick rather than creamy which I actually really like. I might switch between baked oats and normal oats because I like both equally as much.

But seriously, I've been chasing those leg gains for a while. Most notable quad definition, and I feel like it has taken forever. But the journey has been fun, so I can't complain. .
Here are a few tips on building those muscles. 💪🏻
1️⃣Eat the food.🥩🍗🍣🍳
This is the toughest thing for many to do especially girls! Don't be afraid of eating. I eat quite a bit and high protein.
2️⃣Pick up the weight. 🏋🏻‍♀️
I'm not talking your mamas 1 pound dumbells.❌ My purse weighs more than that. I mean, it should be a weight that is challenging. I do some exercises at 3 reps and some at 12-15 reps. Adjust the weights as needed but it shouldn't be a walk in the park.
3️⃣Work what you want to grow.✅ Right now I'm doing legs twice a week, because that's where my focus is. But if you don't do progressive overload, you won't see progress. ❌
4️⃣Recovery is crucial. I'm not just taking about rest days from weights. I'm talking about going to bed early 😴 and doing things to nourish your body. 🧘🏻‍♀️

TWO NEW ICE CREAM REVIEWS!

Why two? Because they're low calorie light ice cream and I smashed them both in one sitting.

Had a voucher so I thought.. Hey, let me indulge my low calorie ice cream loving friends.

Sigh... What a waste.. This is Three Twins - Slim Twin "Cookies & Cream" + "Lemon Cookie". I let them sit out for at least 25-30 minutes for them to temper.

The "Cookies & Cream" has a vanilla Base with Cookie pieces.

The "Lemon Cookie" has a lemon base with cookie pieces.

Texture: After letting it sit out for 30 minutes.. the base of both the pints were still gritty, except for the lemon cookie base being even worse.

The cookie pieces in both pints were soft with a slight chew to them.

Flavor: The Cookies & Cream base tasted like nothing. Absolutely bland. Not even sweet.
The Lemon base tasted good, actually. It did taste like lemon!
The Cookie pieces in the Cookies & Cream pint had a slight bitter Flavor.
The Cookie pieces in the Lemon Cookie pint was absolutely bland and it got overshadowed by the base.

Question... Is erythritol organic? Because both pints have that in it and it absolutely wrecked my stomach haha.

Rating: D. Waste.

Simply put, this is the definition of a sweet and salty ice cream. Fantastic base, tons of mix-ins, and a fun scoop. Ample Hills might be the best bang/buck when it comes to shipping ice cream. Well worth your time and dollars.

Full day of eating! 🥯🥞 In exactly one week, I go to JAPAN 🇯🇵 (Tokyo & Kyoto) for like 9 days and I'm pumped! 🤩 This is a 'for fun' trip with friends, so I'm ready to take advantage of alllll the experiences and foods. Soo had to switch things up a lil and tonight’s meal went with a teriyaki shrimp stir fry! Sautéed up the shrimp and veggies and then tossed the stir fry noodles in on low heat and had a serving of jasmin rice on the side with some sweet chili sauce! Shrimp was cooked a crisp perfect golden brown and they were tasty af!

Here is the truth, carbs at night are not going to make you fat. Eating late at night in general isn't going to either.

Multiple studies have been done comparing different eating times to see which resulted in the greatest weight gain/fat loss.

Here is the thing, studies have found that weight loss is superior in early day eaters, but they have also found the same thing in late night eaters as well!

The major factor in weight gain and fat loss is energy balance. If you're consuming more calories than your body needs and is burning, you will gain weight. If you're eating less calories than your body needs you will lose weight.

So at the end of the day if eating later in the day works for you, keep doing it! Enjoy your life and stick with the approach that works for you! If you notice you have trouble sleeping at night when you eat late and don't feel good, then don't do it.

Everything always comes back to the individual. You have to experiment and test to find out what approach is best for you.
