Robj, ducks cutlery support
Look at what a beautiful, different and unique thing!!! We did not just believe it but we just bumped into this incredible set of 12 cutlery support in the 1920s including small salt and pepper bowls and spoons ... and to complete the finding, we found it in its original case, with hardly any use.
Signed by Robj (Jean Born) and his partner had a successful retail store in France in the late 1920's and early 1930's. He actively encouraged Art Deco and Cubist designers and artists, and provided a showcase for their works. Robj sponsored an annual competition between 1927 and 1931 as a means of finding new designers. Their most successful objects sold in the retail store were porcelain figures, lamps, perfume lamps, ashtrays, bottles, bookends, and kitchen items. The production of unique liqueur-decanters in 1928 set new levels of popularity and sales.
Robj was not a manufacturer - his porcelain pieces were commissioned and produced by various suppliers among them Manufacture de Sèvres, Villeroy et Boch in Luxemburg, several factories in Limoges and a decoration workshop with a muffle furnace in Boulogne-sur-Seine, but he can be considered important in the promotion of Art Deco in ceramics in the period that it came of age. #love #art #design #peetersbarcelona #robj
