Harvest Day 100!
Can’t quite believe I’ve reached this milestone.
Not going to lie to you there was a period around the 40-day mark where I was struggling. Struggling to gain traction! Instagram is so difficult to gain following without Facebook’s share feature or Twitter’s retweet. This is especially the case when I have to do the project anonymously. As I visit the dumpsters so regularly, it just isn’t possible to display my face all over this project, supermarket staff would likely lock their dumpsters ASAP. Energy-wise I was getting low as hauling all these harvests back home (especially #BonusHauls!)
& then photographing them takes huge amounts of time & effort.
I just thought to myself: “How on earth am I going to have the energy to keep going until day 100, never mind December 31st 02019.”
Anyway, as is so common, with time, these feelings passed & plenty of water has now gone under the bridge.
So, upon reaching this milestone, I have to express a massive thanks to all of YOU who have followed this project so closely, liking all the photos on a daily & writing your comments so regularly.
A huge thanks to @nunotcastilho who, out of the blue, messaged me on Insta expressing an interest to make a video. The video captures the essence of why this project came about, describes my daily activities & why the #FoodSystem must be transitioned quickly. It has massively surpassed my expectations! So far, there have been a 1000 views on Instagram & almost 37,000 views on Facebook. Crazy! There’s clearly an abundance of people out there who find the global #foodwaste
phenomenon absolutely outrageous!
Finally, a huge thanks to my friend @robjgreenfield who has generously shared this project twice now on social media. This has had a tremendous impact on audience reach, which isn’t surprising, as the community he’s created over the past 7 years is so passionate & dedicated to creating a better world for people & planet.
