| WASTE LESS || Have you ever thought about what happens to your gadgets when you're done with them? 📲⌚️💻 And we're not talking about your obsolete draw or cupboard here.
That old Fitbit, mobile phone and tablet that you got rid of because it was outdated or just couldn't be fixed. You might have thought it was recycled, but chances are it wasn't. ♻️ Only 20% of electronic waste (e-waste) is recycled and sadly the rest ends up in landfills across the planet. 😔🌿
The demand for the latest or next best gadget, and the way companies design and manufacture them has lead to the overconsumption of electrical devices that are adding to the waste crisis. Every year the world produces 48.5m tons of e-waste. Enough to cover Manhattan - that's the same weight as all commercial aircrafts ever built and it's predicted to double by 2050. And the UK is one of the top contributors.⚠️
The good news is there are some amazing companies doing great things to raise awareness and tackle this problem: @fairphone, @restartproject @mudjeans @elvisandkresse are just a few. 🙌🏽
Like these companies, we're thinking about this from the get-go. We're working hard to carefully and consciously design and develop our products to keep them from eventually ending up in landfill. We want to help you #choosewell.
