I realized recently that I haven't done an "introduction" post in a long time, so I figured it's about time to do another one! My name is Christine & this is a pic of me & my husband Ken. We were married in 2016 & each brought 3 kids along with us, so we are a Brady Bunch for sure. I am a candlemaker by trade & my husband is a steel mill worker. We are both so thankful to God for giving us a second chance on life & happiness...our motto is "life is too short to be too serious". So we laugh, deeply & often. 😅We bought 14 acres of land, also in 2016, with the intention of #buildingahouse
& pursuing our dream of #homesteading.
Our land was a completely blank canvas, so we had to start from scratch with carving out a driveway & bringing in electricity, having a well dug & putting in a septic system. We've been chipping away at building our house in between all of the rain showers (& torrential downpours) of the past year, & it's slooooowly taking shape. But the process has been long & tedious because we are doing ALL of the work ourselves! We are nailing every board, installing every pipe, laying every brick & cinder block, all by ourselves. It has been a wild & interesting ride & last summer I started a #blog
to document our journey (link in bio). One of the hardest parts of this road is the waiting. We are enjoying the process for sure, but my dreams of #gardens
& #chickens & #goats & #cooking
amazing food from all those homegrown sources has me feeling like a kid on Christmas Eve.😆 I can hardly stand to wait another day to get started!! But meanwhile I have gotten so much enjoyment & encouragement from the amazing #homesteadingcommunity
here on IG. Some of you are in the waiting phase like we are, & it's been awesome to know we are not alone. Some of you are living the #homesteadlife every day, & I have been living vicariously through you, while taking copious notes on what to do when it's finally our turn. 😊 So this is us...we are aspiring #homesteaders
with lots of kids, who love to laugh & are praying for at least one week of no rain to come soon...because right now we have a house that desperately needs a roof!🏡
