Today we met @mariannewilliamson speaking on her campaign for president in NH. She allowed my girl to ask a question about racial issues during Q&A session (in front of dozens of adults) and she listens to and speaks on the importance of healing childhood trauma / family PTSD in order to remedy our nation's disparities/ inequalities and underlying poverty of values, education and economic growth. That by allowing all children to thrive and to have more equitable financial and emotional/ mental stability and opportunity, we ensure a sustainable future for them in this country. (She has also been a counselor to Oprah and is a NY Times bestselling author...) What I appreciate most about her is her ability to speak in simple /layman's terms with a holistic approach to all things - whether family, healing, politics, health, environment, war, racism, while also sharing extensive historical knowledge and wisdom. Her point is that a nation is simply a collection of individuals who each need to be heard or represented or healed of trauma- much like our entire country/ leadership as a whole. She calls us to look deeper, opening up conversations at a causal/ root level of the systems in place that have led to our nation's current issues.
