Tomorrow afternoon is completely dedicated to “me time”

An entire afternoon/evening full of recharging my batteries, doing anything or nothing (whatever it is, I get to decide). Decision one is made - First stop on my “me time” afternoon is a visit to add to the tattoo collection - there are two small pieces being added tomorrow to a forearm that’s been screaming at me for months to get the ink booked in!

From there - who knows...maybe a walk, maybe a run, maybe a catch up with friends, maybe a movie or out for dinner - my options are endless.

I remember taking this picture when Drew was deployed a couple of years ago. I usually didn’t like taking selfies, but I would for him. He had just bought me a new Canon, so I was trying it out. I never thought of myself as “beautiful.”
.
But...
.
This was about 6 months into this fitness journey. I remember looking at this picture and feeling soo confident. I actually liked what I saw. I looked happy.
.
I realized how my mental health and viewpoint of myself was being affected by me taking time to really focus on my health and my self-esteem issues, really trying to get in shape bc my struggles with my weight were taking a huge toll on me mentally.

I will never, ever regret not taking the initiative to work on my mental and physical health. What I would have regretted was not doing it at all.

This has all become instrumental in my life. So much so, that I’ve decided to take the next step towards improving myself. Next week, I will begin working with an amazing guy and coach, @alexbush__ for 12 weeks. I’m really looking forward to learning and growing more throughout this process. 🙌🏻

Tried playing the best American Gladiator game of all time today. You know, the one where you run from obstacle to obstacle and avoid getting hit by a tennis ball gun. It kinda worked, if kids could throw harder and more accurate it would have worked. But it wasn’t for them, it was just for me to go back to my childhood dream.

One of the things I get asked the most is about my nutrition. No I didn't take out all the good stuff!
I simply limit my portions of everything so I can still have the good stuff. I went from 5 desserts a day to 1. I also started to utilize meal prep plans for specific workout programs I would be doing.

Now, I'm not strict or perfect when it comes to my prep. That is mainly because my awesome wife takes care of that mostly for us! Shout out to @schwintles for being great! It takes little changes, consistantly to make BIG changes over time.
THIS right here was one of the little changes I made that has made a HUGE impact in my health! .
I get to have a chocolate 🍫 shake errrr day! And you want to know a secret....IT DOESN’T TASTE LIKE CHALK!!

It is seriously the most simple way for me to get large amounts of vitamins, superfoods, pro/prebiotics and TONS more good stuff!

Doubling set bar bell dead row

225 lbs for 5, each set is one full rep and then one half rep and then immediately after you cut your weight in half in my case I went to the 100 lb easy bar and cranked out 15. I did this for 4 sets. It’s a great lower and mid back exercise focusing on athleticism and working more of that hypertrophy for the back with the explosive moments.

CONTROVERSY!!!! how much fat and how much protein? you see these questions popping up all over the Internet and everyone seems to have a different answer you can Google it 1 million times and get different answers so I’m giving you an answer based off of my experience and you can try it and see if it works for you.

Basically to burn fat you need to reduce your calories and reduce your fat intake, don’t reduce it to heavily at the very most reduce it to 60% of you daily needs. Your protein will make up the rest of that, with your protein like I said in earlier videos stick anywhere from .87 X your lean body mass to 1.5 X lean body mass and I wouldn’t recommend going over that.
For someone who isn’t active stick at about .64 to .75 per pound of lean body mass
bottom line if you want to burn stored fat you need to stop feeding your body excess fat so it looks for an alternative source, if you’re feeding your fat adapted body excess amounts of fat and you’re fat adapted it will never dip into you’re fat stores because you’re providing it with all the energy it ever needed, if you restrict those fats and go into a caloric deficit your body will have no choice but to feed from its own adipose tissue

A chilly run but a beautiful sunrise heading into a snowy day expected tomorrow. It’s still a nice distraction from the cold as I chat with God for a bit. .

Today is a reset day, not just for my health after a weekend with family, but for my mind. Despite my efforts to move forward, demons from my past keep at my heels and I have difficulty trying to find the best way to handle.
Some days it feels overwhelming when everyone has an opinion of every decision you make. As much as I try to take everyone’s opinion with a grain of salt, it’s tough to not let it bother me if someone disagrees or disapproves. I don’t want to have to explain and justify every decision I make just as much as I don’t feel the need to ask similar of others decisions. This is something I work on daily along my personal development journey.

So, today, I am putting my trust in the Lord and asking for His guidance, strength and grace. .

I share this with you so you can know that God has a plan for you, and, if you’re feeling stuck, just remember and ask for His guidance.

Let’s talk about why obsessing over the number on the scale is not a productive use of time... I am 7 months #postpartum in both of these pictures 3+ years apart. In 2015 I was more of a cardio junkie, only focussed on the number on the scale and was losing my 🍑😩 In 2019 I mostly weight/resistance train - and while I weigh about 5 pounds more than the 2015 picture I am much happier with my body composition and my 🍑😆 The irony is that I was comparing the weights and feeling a little disappointed but then I put these pictures side-by-side and realized that I like the body on the right so much better!

So yes, stop obsessing over the scale. Stop looking for a “fast and furious” way to lose weight. Just take care of your body and it will take care of you 🤗🤗🤗
