Each and everyday new applications and use cases are developed for the HoloLens that change the way we work. The latest one we chose to highlight is from Chevron. They utilized the HoloLens to help a pregnant employee perform her job remotely.
For the past two years, ever since the pandemic, we have talked about how the HoloLens and Dynamics 365 Remote Assist applications enable people to work together from anywhere. This was a blessing due to social distancing and travel restrictions. Once companies started to adopt this technology, soon after came different adaptions of this use case. Remote operations became a new norm and we saw remote bridge inspections, remote medical surgeries, and remote instructor led training to name a few.
The next innovative use case comes from Chevron. When a pregnant employee came to them, Chevron stepped up to the plate and came up with a solution to allow the expectant mother to continue to perform her job. They chose the HoloLens to enable their pregnant employee to work from a safe location. Instead of walking around on a moving vessel or climbing ladders to a different floor level, the soon-to-be mother was in an office while another employee would share their field of view with the HoloLens. The HoloLens and Dynamics 365 Remote Assist allow anyone to virtually be anywhere.
A major shout-out goes to Chevron for their commitment to their employees and for what they stand for. The easy solution would have been to say that the conditions were too dangerous for the pregnant employee and move her to a different role for the time being. They did not choose the easy route. They chose the right one where they celebrated the pregnancy and found a way to allow their employee to continue to do the job that she loves.
In an age where rights and inclusion are a major part of society. Sadly, most of the news we see or hear about rights and inclusion is negative this is story that deserves to be seen and go viral. The use case also shows the possibilities for people who have disabilities whether permanent or temporary. They can perform just like anyone else and should be treated the same way. Thanks to the HoloLens and Dynamics 365 Remote Assist this story is all possible and many more like this is to come.
